The “Beenergi” program of the Diputació de Girona has organized a day today to mark the World Day of Energy Efficiency. The event, which took place at the Casa de Cultura in Girona, has been received with great interest for the more than 120 registered, most of them from the local world, but also from companies, from the field of engineering , The research centers and the entities that work day by day for energy efficiency.

Throughout the day, it has been presented from the methodology to elaborate follow-up reports of the action plans for sustainable energy (PAES) until the contracting of green energy by the public Administration, through The question of self-consumption in municipal buildings. There have also been practical cases of improvement of energy efficiency in municipalities such as Caldes de Malavella, Riells and Viabrea, Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Ventalló.

The presentations were given by the technicians of the “Beenergi” program and the municipalities on which they have dealt with the case studies, and were attended by consultants and representatives of the Catalan Energy Institute (ICAEN) and the Clúster d ‘Energetic Efficiency of Catalonia (CEEC), among others.

The day was supported by the CILMA (Council of Local Initiatives for the Environment of the counties of Girona), ICAEN and the framework program of the European Commission for research and innovation «Horizon 2020».

The World Day of Energy Efficiency is held every March 5 with the aim of generating a reflection and awareness about the rational use of energy in a broad sense, and the need to use new efficient technologies and Renewable and sustainable energy sources.
