The Beenergi program of the Provincial Council receives the Biomassa Catalunya Prize for the best project in the public sector
The Beenergi program of the Diputació de Girona has won the Biomassa Catalunya Prize for the best public sector project due to the degree of innovation, saving emissions of polluting gases by replacing fossil fuels and the socioeconomic impact.
The award was gathered yesterday, in Vic, the deputy of Environment of the Provincial Council, Lluís Costabella, in the hands of General Director of Forests of the Generalitat, Montse Barniol, within the framework of the Biomass Fair of Catalonia. This has been the first edition of the Biomassa Catalunya Awards, which is promoted from the Cluster of Biomass of Catalonia and the City Council of Vic.
The Beenergi program of the Diputació de Girona (http://beenergi.ddgi.cat; @BeenerGiddgi) offers technical, legal and financial assistance necessary to the municipalities that are part of the Pact of mayors, in order to mobilize investments to improve the Energy efficiency in public lighting and municipal public buildings, in which the installation of biomass boilers and the creation of heat networks are enhanced. “Beenergi” currently serves 71 local councils.
Apart from the modality of the best project in the public sector, prizes have been awarded in six more categories: better action in the field of sustainable agroforestry management; Best project in the private sector; Better communication and dissemination; Better entrepreneurship and employment; Better research project, and better final degree or master project.
